As the Associate Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in fostering active community engagement and participation in accordance with Temple Sinai’s guiding principles: Explore Tradition. Find Purpose. Create Community. This position presents a unique opportunity for individuals interested in a career in Jewish Communal Life, offering a hands-on learning experience. The successful candidate will have abundant opportunities for growth, exploration, and development in various aspects of running a non-profit organization, with the ultimate aspiration of becoming an Executive Director as a long-term goal.

This is a full time, nonexempt position that offers comprehensive benefits, including medical coverage, vacation time, sick day accrual and paid holidays. The salary range for this role is $33- $52 hourly, commensurate with experience.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will collaborate closely with clergy, senior staff, administrative personnel, facilities staff, and volunteers. The expected start date for this position is July 1, 2023.
As the Associate Executive Director, you will oversee and contribute to critical projects across our organization spanning various facets of Temple life. Some of these core responsibilities may include:

Programming:
• Establish and implement a process to measure metrics for program attendance and impact.
• Provide ongoing oversight and support for holiday programs (meals and social) in coordination with senior staff) such as High Holy Days: Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Hanukkah, Tu b’Shevat, Purim, Passover, Shavuot and Shabbat programming.
• Serve as the staff liaison for community activities which require staff support such as Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Memorial Day) and other programs as assigned.

Volunteer Engagement:
• Develop and maintain an infrastructure for volunteer engagement, including record keeping systems for member’s needs, interests, and skills.
• Connect new members with volunteer and social opportunities.
• Communicate opportunities for member involvement and contributions.
• Cultivate members’ interest in giving their time and talents to the congregation.
• Establish a system for on-going communication with volunteers to ensure that their placement meets their expectations and aligns with the congregation’s needs.
• Develop a plan for appropriately recognizing volunteer efforts.

Additional responsibilities may include:
• Assist in attracting and retaining members.
• Work with facilities manager to ensure proper staffing of the facility.
• Coordinate the implementation and project management of major facility projects.
• Identify opportunities for staff development and arrange compliance trainings.
• Identify new opportunities for generating funds and manage grants.

Qualifications:
• Experience in project management and proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the drive to find solutions.
• Knowledge of Jewish values and traditions, understanding of Reform Judaism. Preference given to candidates with experience working in the Jewish community.
• Experience developing and implementing programming for various constituencies.
• Ability to set priorities, work independently, follow through on programs, projects, and adapt to changing situations.
• Demonstrated success in organizing and motivating others, individuals, or groups.
• Willingness to work fluctuating hours including evenings and weekends.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications: Microsoft Word, Excel etc. as well as familiarity with constituent databases.
• Enthusiastic, organized, highly motivated, responsible, courteous, discreet, flexible, and creative, with a sense of humor.
